Let's reflect on how namma RCB looks on paper.
If we lose out on key players due to fatigue or injuries that upsets the whole balance, Starc was our key bowler and over time only an RCB fan deeply understands the value of a fast left hand bowler on the chinnaswamy stadium pitch. The pitch is so favourable to batsmen that bowlers must bowl out of their skin and here it's not about just taking wickets but also containing runs. Starc did a brilliant job with us.
Secondly,.. RCB’s Extravagant buys
RCB have always splurged on players who have gone out to be duds for that season.
Tymal Mills - Most Expensive last season to Unsold this season. Well RCB thought a quick unconventional player could do the trick.. Well the gamble cost us Rs 12.5Cr
Saurabh Tiwary - Touted to be the next Dhoni, hmm..?.. Well at least I thought so or I made myself believe that when we bought him.
Kevin Pieterson - The fad of All rounders was at its all time high and so was Mr Mallya always in high spirits.
Yuvraj Singh - He did pretty well, which is why he was there for another season
Point is.. The players we got for nothing are our retained players.. Kohli, Sarfaraz and ABD
Even Yuvzendra chahal too.. We've been lucky with the draft system and not to mention the local Karnataka players are an absolute delight. (Read.- Manish Pandey, Karun Nair)
Well now coming to our squad
Virat kohli - He had a personal disappointing season last time averaging 30, which is average considering the expectations we have and we have been merciless against Gayle who averaged 20..Well point is both didn't do well.. So its important that his form is top notch..
Most of our bowlers are from the KKR stable. The team that decimated us last season at 49 runs.
Hmm they know the conditions well. If you can't play them, you buy them!!
Chahals got game time with India and that is a huge plus!!!
Quinton De kock - RCB fans will never forget the 51 ball 108 runs for DD.. We'll if you can't play them, buy them!!
Brendon Mccullum - Well the first Ipl match, Devastating.. Need I say more??
ABD - Mr dependable, even in his bad form this man cannot be dropped, he's an asset on the field.
Among the uncapped players - Quite a few have done well in the recently concluded Syed Mustaq Ali T20 trophy and with Nehra on board, i believe that he made all calls with regards to the uncapped Indian bowlers.
Well no matter what, this team always has some voodoo problem
All said and done, no matter what our team looks like and I firmly believe that we WILL WIN!!

We can't tell who can . Anything can happen in ipl, a team which languished at the bottom can lift the trophy in the next season. Ex : deccan chargers . (2008- last place . 2009 - winners )
Just before the 2017 ipl , majority of the players from rcb were in stellar form but the key players ruled out of the tournament due to injuries ( sarfraz , kl Rahul , Kohli - devilliers ( few matches)).
If we can keep these aside , they have good chances this time because of the kind of additions they had this time . They left emotions and sentiments aside and picked some match winning players like mccullum,de kock , coulternile . Filled their lowerorder with good bunch of allrounders like Colin grandhome , Moen Ali, woakes .
Good Indian middleorder players like mandeep , sarfraz and some backup toporder batsmen like vohra , backed by wicket keeping batsman parthiv .
But what decides is how they are going to pick their overseas in the playing eleven . Because they need a gun bowler to lead pace attack , they have coulternile for that . Obviously devilliers will play in all the matches . For the other two spots they have a puzzle , likely candidates are woakes , de kock , mccullum , Colin de grandhome .
For the bulking up lower order they need to pick one of the allrounder among woakes , grandhome . But former was more of a bowler but he can't play big hits just like the latter as a finisher . If the latter was picked he was more like a hitter , when the pitch was tough to bat he struggles and his bowling was not that effective of woakes .
Now the next comes the option of overseas toporder batsman role . Both mccullum, de kock can change games easily . the latter was a top class keeper with good record . But he is struggling with form . If the former was picked , he can be a excellent pick but he is suffering from injuries ( back ) in the last few tournaments . If he gets left out for injuries , the straight swap de kock might struggle, which puts more pressure on the other opener .
Also their key bowler coulternile was a highly injury prone bowler , if he misses few matches due to injuries their pace bowling might weaken up . Because woakes doesn't have decent record so far in t20 in Indian conditions.he struggled last time also while playing for kkr .
To win , the RCB has to overcome all the above issues and play collectively with a bit of luck.
